Coach Shackelford

Varsity Girls Coach

Coach Shackelford is the winning coach of the 2012 Girls Varsity State Champions and has been at Roswell since 1999. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from The University of Georgia where he played intramural tennis. He was also a member of The River Club at Martin’s Landing Swim and Tennis Club for several years and has played ALTA sporadically due to time commitments.

 

He currently teaches English and Talented and Gifted classes at Roswell. He was the Boys JV coach for three years. He was the Boys Varsity Coach for two years. This is his 15th year coaching Girls Varsity. Coach Shackelford has been the Head of the Roswell Tennis program since 2008, and is also the Region 4-AAAAAA Varsity tennis coordinator. Additionally, he is a USTA Certified Referee.  He has been the JV Division coordinator and Tournament Director for 33 high school JV programs in the North Atlanta area for the last 15 years.

Coach Bryan

Varsity Boys Coach

Coach Bryan is entering his fifth year of coaching tennis at Roswell, and this will be his third year of serving as the Hornets’ Varsity Boys tennis coach. Coach Bryan previously served as Varsity Boys’ and Girls’ assistant coach, and JV Girls coach.

​

Originally a native of Phoenix City, Alabama, Coach Bryan is in 20th year of teaching English and in his third at Roswell. Previously, he taught 10th and 11th grade English at Newton High School in Covington, Ga, where he also served as varsity boys and girls head tennis coach for 7 years.  During this time, he navigated his squads to 5 GHSA state playoff appearances, and his teams finished 2nd in Region 7A in 2014 and 2015.

Bryan attended college at Mercer University in Macon, Ga., where he double majored in Political Science and English. While at Mercer, he played on the varsity men’s tennis team from 1992-94. He attended graduate school at The University of Georgia, where he earned his M.Ed. and Ed.S. degrees in Secondary English Education.

​

Coach Bryan is married to Lindsey Davis-Bryan, an ESOL teacher at RHS. They are the proud parents of a little boy and a rescued English bulldog named Reggie. In his spare time, Coach Bryan enjoys playing ALTA, Ultimate and USTA tennis. 

Coach Majors

Varsity Girls Coach

Coach Majors is in her fourth year of teaching and coaching tennis at Roswell High School.  She attended Auburn University where she majored in Zoology and minored in math.  She has been a long term substitute teacher at Roswell for the past 8 years.  She now teaches Geometry within the Math and Special Education Department.


Coach Majors has been playing tennis for 20 years.  She is on numerous USTA and ALTA teams out of Edenwilde.  She has 2 daughters, Dani and Haley, that graduated from Roswell High School.  Her daughter, Haley played tennis on both of Roswell’s JV and Varsity teams.

 

Coach Turner

Coach Turner is in his 28th year of teaching and first year coaching tennis at Roswell High School. He graduated from University of Georgia in 1993 where he studied Math Education. Coach Turner is in his third year of teaching in the Special Education department at RHS.

 

Coach Turner is passionate about athletics and has been involved in team sports since elementary school. He has coached a variety of sports at the high school level over the course of his 28 year coaching career.  Those sports include football, baseball, and softball.

 

Coach Turner is married to wife Leslie and has two daughters, Madilyn (16) and Ashley (14)
